MARINE PROGRAM

The Marine industry operates under a unique set of work conditions. Not only are the types of entries and space configurations unique to the ship’s structure but the worker’s split shifts and requirements while at port can present significant challenges to consistent training. On-Site Rescue recognizes’ these challenges and has developed a unique training program that works well with the ships schedule.

We have worked very closely with industry partners to develop training programs delivered while the ship sails between two ports. For example, over the period of 2-5 days of sailing we provide a comprehensive training program to the entire crew by running multiple 4 hours sessions for each shift. This allows the crew to maintain their schedule but sufficient time to complete the training. Although this is not the only training model we can do, it has proven to be among the best to achieving 100% compliance for your crew in a short period of time.

Although each marine operator is different and we can customize the training for each, this approach has been well received by the industry. We have since expanded our training programs to include Marine First Aid/CPR, Working at Heights, Fire Extinguisher use, SCBA use, Confined Space Entry/Rescue and Lockout/Tagout. (other options training available upon request)

Marine Confined Space Entry / Rescue

Duration 8 hr (broken in to training segments as required)

Max Class Size: unlimited for 4 hr theory but 12 pax for the second 4 hr practical training.

Meeting the requirements of the Maritime Occupational Health and Safety Regulations (SOR/2010-120) this course combines a unique combination of theory and practical training to keep your workers competent. With literally hundreds of designated confined spaces on each ship confined space entries ranks as one of the highest risk activities. If a worker enters a ballast tank and has a medical emergency or is overcome by the conditions of the space, you must be able to rescue that person immediately.

Our training program combines a theory segment to cover the confined space requirements to enter and work in the space but also focuses on rescue. We discuss the principles of rescue and complete a series of practical scenario based evolutions to develop competence and confidence. The equipment we use and recommend is simple and practical such that the learning curve is achievable for all crew. The equipment works in every situation and is perfect for the marine environment. We of course can adapt to train with whichever equipment you currently use.

We have trained entire fleets of ships throughout Canada and have had great success with the program.

Refresher Plus Program

It is our recommendation that confined space training be completed every two years. We have developed a training module that combines other 4 hr training courses with a 4 hr confined space rescue refresher course. Therefore we can provide a new element of your required training but add a rescuer refresher to keep skills and confidence high on an annual basis.

Marine Lockout – Tagout

Duration: 4 hr

Max Size – unlimited

The importance of Lockout / Tagout (LOTO) cannot be overlooked. Not only a requirement by law, a LOTO program keeps your workers safe from hazards. Working in confine spaces add a higher degree of risk that further emphasizes the need for consistently accurate lockouts. Onsite Rescue will work with your current LOTO program to deliver a comprehensive LOTO message for your entire crew. We have created a new program to that combines the LOTO 4 hr program with a confined space rescue refresher. This maximizes training time on your vessel and keep your workers skills and confidence up.
